| Thermal Scanner - The thermal scanner is a Infrared Non-contact Thermometer. It measures temperature changes sometimes associated with paranormal activity. The thermal scanner sends out an infrared beam that hits a surface and bounces back giving the temperature of the object it hits. Temperature drops of more then 10 degrees could mean some kind of paranormal activity is going on and is a good time to start taking pictures. We have had our thermal scanner read 32 degrees on a 70 degree night. Light does not pass through orbs and other paranormal anomalies so therefore the infrared beam reflects back giving the temperature of the anomalie. We can't see orbs so therefore the thermal scanner is a valuable tool for ghost hunting. EMF METER - The EMF Meter or gaussmeter, is a tool we use to detect disruptions in the electromagnetic field which is sometimes associated with paranormal events. Spirits are believed to be electromagnetic in origin that is why they are detected with these meters. Paranormal events have been associated with low energy magnetic fields that fall in the range of 2.0 -to- 7.0 mg. Higher readings are most likely a man made source. This is why many people report the felling of their hair standing on end in haunted locations. A static discharge is common when ghost are present. 35MM CAMERA - This is one of the most important tools for ghost hunting. Any 35mm camera with a flash will work. the brighter the flash the better. The best film to use for ghost hunting is kodak max 400 or 800 speed film its great for fast action or lowlight situations. Make sure to put the camera strap around your neck at all times or remove it. If the strap or anything gets in front of the lense it can create false anomalies on film. TAPE RECORDER - A tape recorder is used on investigations to capture voices of the dead or electronic voice phenomena (EVP). The tape recorder is layed down somewhere or carried with us. Upon playback spirit voices are sometimes heard. VIDEO CAMERA WITH NIGHT SHOT - Video cameras with the night shot feature work well for ghost hunting. Spirits are sometimes seen with infrared equipment. A tripod is used to prevent shaking . DIGITAL CAMERA - The digital camera is also great for for ghosthunting since you can look at your pictures as soon as you take them and get rid of the ones you dont want. Cameras with 2.0 megapixels and higher are the best but any will work. Just make sure the flash is turned on and the camera strap is removed. MOTION DETECTORS - Motion detectors send out a beam and when the beam is broken it sounds an alarm. A motion detector set in a room is a good way to see if any paranormal activety is going on in the area. Orbs will trigger these alarms even though you cannot see them. We have had them go off and taken a picture with our digital camera at the same time and captured a orb on film in front of the detector. FLASH LIGHT - We use flash lights with a red filter lens to preserve night vision. WRIST WATCH - It is important to keep track of time. NOTE PAD AND PEN - It is important to keep notes of when you get to the location and when you leave. Also to jot down the times of when things happened and where you got readings. The weather conditions should also be noted and the time of each picture taken. Any strange fellings you got and where should also be wrote down. |
