CRAWFORD COUNTY ILLINOIS GHOSTHUNTERS SOCIETY
GHOST HUNTING DEFINITIONS
ORB - The spirits of the dead that appear as circular shape anomalies on film and video.  They can be different colors ranging from grey, white, pink, and blue to almost transparent.  The most common colors being grey and white.  Orbs are the most basic form a ghost may take on.  They have density and mass, so therefore they can cast shadows.  It is very rare, but they sometimes can be seen by the naked eye..  Night vision equipment works well for catching orbs in action.  Orbs appear in the infrared spectrum of light not  visiable to the human eye.  Video cameras with the night shot feature work excellent because of this.

ECTO MIST - A vapor like mist captured on film and video.  This can be another form that a ghost can take on.  Like orbs, they can sometimes be seen with the naked eye.

PORTAL - A demisonal doorway from the spirit world to our world.  Spirits use these to go from one place to another. When they are captured on film  a circular pattern of orbs usually distorting the picture is usually seen. If you take pictures in a dusty enviroment you will get similar pictures because of dust particles creating false anomalies.

SUPER CHARGED ORB - Very bright orbs that emit light.

VORTEX - A vortex is a white funnel like anomalie sometimes captured on film.

APPARITION - Any disembodied spirit that appears visibly or on film.

ELECTRONIC VOICE  PHENOMENA (EVP) - The capture of spirit voices on magnetic tape as an audio recording.  Many times, no sound is heard while the tape is recording.  It's only upon playback that the harsh, hushed voices may be heard.

COLLECTIVE APPARITION - An unusual type of  spirit sighting in which more than one person sees the same phenomenon.
