| Respect the spirits of the dead! When investigating a cemetery, house or any other location you must respect the land, property, and the spirits of the dead at all times! I have heard of investigators that just try to make the ghosts or spirits angry by shouting at them and even disturbing personal items of the people who have passed on. The disrespect of the dead will not and should not be tolerated by any group! We have found that the spirits of the dead keep their emotions in the afterlife and their intelligence. You will have very poor results investigating the paranormal if you do not respect the spirits and ghosts that might be causing activity at a location. Respect is very important and like in life if they respect you they will be more open to giving you the results you are after. When investigating a house or any location you should not move or disturb anything unless your purpose is good such as fixing a fallen tombstone or placing flowers near a grave. If you show respect to the people who have passed on you will find that you will start to get positive results on your investigations. I once fixed a tombstone that was broken and had my digital recorder running at the time and picked up a voice saying Thank You! Always speak in a non threatening tone of voice and watch where you go and step in cemeteries. You should not ever sit or stand on a persons tombstone, this also shows disrespect to the dead. If you bring trash in with you on your investigation bring it back out! A good rule is to always leave the location just like you found it or better by removing trash that other people have left behind. It is also a good idea to ask permission to take their picture or record their voice and explain to them why you are there and that you are not there to cause harm. This will show them respect and we have found in some locations we always get the same ghost talking on our recorder. Each time they get more used to you being there but you do not want to over do it and investigate the same place night after night. This is also why we do not believe in exorcism nor do we perform them. This is like telling a ghosts or spirit to get out of there own house and I don’t know about you but that would not go well with me! It is disrespectful to try to make them leave or get out. You can help them by telling them it is alright to cross over and move on but never try to force them out. They are still there for a reason and until they let go of that reason they will remain here unless they find their peace and cross over. We must always respect the ghosts or spirits of the dead and learn to study and research the other side and the nature of our existence here and beyond because we ourselves will be in their position very soon and suddenly might have the answers we are so desperately looking for now! |
