I do not believe that ghost hunting goes against church teachings. Some churches have groups that seek out houses or other places with spirits. Their intent is usually to drive the spirits out of those places, however. The bible mentions ghosts in a of couple places. Many churches believe that ghosts are just demons. I guess we won't know for sure until we die.

I know that there are many sects that probably feel that ghost hunting is against theie beliefs and the Bible. However, the Bible does mention ghosts in several areas. My belief is that there are many people who seem lost and trapped in bad situations while they are alive and this does not change after their death so their spirits are still lost and trapped.

I had a dream about my brother 3 days in a row. On the Fourth Day I got a call from Fort Worth that he died. In his Apt. Alone. When we went to the Wake My ex sister in law and her 3 kids made it difficult for my Family. When we returned home I heard him calling out my name Kat. Then he would pound on the walls and make himself present. Then on the 3rd night he walked into the living room in front of my Dad and smiled with his arms opened wide. and sat down on the couch and faded out. I audio taped my room one day and there is a little boy saying that "I won't be home for dinner". And the loudest banging on the wall I ever heard after that. Spirits move through walls they talk and move things and make it into your dreams when you sleep. He was not ready to go, I had to tell him to go to the Light of our Christ our Lord. The next night I had a dream that he was in a red and gold pavillon and he turned to me and I woke up. He had crossed over. Why was he mad? He died on his Birthday he was 50 years old.
